In some cases, several siblings in a family emigrated together to set up a new life abroad. Often, young people were helped by older siblings who had emigrated before them. Older family members helped younger relatives to get on their feet when they arrived in a new country.
There were five Swan sisters, all of whom emigrated to London. We have already heard about Avril's adventures. Now we will look at two of her other sisters: Mariah and Berney.
