One of the earliest known photographs of the original group of Pupils and Presentation Brothers outside the Presentation College, Putland Road, Bray, Co. Wicklow which was opened in 1921.
Wicklow Times NewspaperIn those days, most good schools were fee paying and attended by the middle classes.
Before 1921, these Bray boys had to travel by train to colleges in Dublin (such as Blackrock College) or were sent to a boarding school like Castleknock.
So it did not take long for the classrooms to fill. By the end of 1921, there were 52 boys on the roll, of which 10 were boarders from various parts of the country.
This photo is the first school picture taken in 1921. It is very old and grainy, but can you count how many pupils there are?
By 1930, this number had expended to 125 pupils.
