Constance Gore-Booth (1868-1927) was born into a wealthy landed family in Lissadell, Co. Sligo. This unit looks at aspects of Sligo, such as the population changes, the railways, the harbour, the town and the county. The Lissadell estate as seen on old 19th century maps, the path to the Arctic taken by Sir Henry Gore-Booth, transport will be examined, both then and now, to explain the story behind the images. It also looks at the environment and people which inspired the poet, W. B. Yeats.
