Seeds from last year can be planted in pots. Remember to keep them watered. It can take two years for some seeds to grow. When saplings grow bigger they can be planted in the garden.
Irish gardens are good for growing small native Irish trees like willow, hazel, rowan and hawthorn.
It is easy to plant a tree!
1. Dig a deep hole and loosen the soil with a spade or shovel.
2. Make sure the soil level for the plant is the same as it was in the pot.
3. Put some compost in the hole to feed the roots.
4. Pack the soil around the roots with your hands.
5. Water your tree and use fertiliser to ensure it grows healthy and strong.
Planting A Sapling
A sapling should be put in a hole with the soil level the same as it was in the pot. The soil should be loose around the roots before the mulch is put on top.
