Gné fhíorthábhachtach de thírdhreach na hÉireann is ea an phábháil aolchloiche toisc gur gnáthóg ansaibhir í do bhláthanna fiáine, raithneach agus phlandaí coille. Is annamh gnáthóga mar iad ar domhan.
Is í an Bhoirinn an t-ionad aolchloiche is fairsinge agus is cáiliúla in Éirinn. D’ainneoin an dealramh aimrid atá uirthi bíonn an chuimse fána agus flóra ar phábháil aolchloiche. Fuarthas breis agus 700 cineál éagsúla bláthanna agus raithneach anseo, rud is ionann agus 75% de fhlóra dúchasach na hÉireann
Limestone Landscapes
As a natural habitat for a rich diversity of wildflowers, ferns and woodland plants, limestone pavement is one of Ireland ’s most treasured landscape features. Globally they are a rare habitat.
The Burren is Ireland's most famous and extensive limestone area. Despite its barren appearance, limestone pavement is abundant in flora and fauna. More than 700 different flowering plants and ferns have been recorded here, representing about 75 per cent of Irish native flora.
