Albert Einstein
Albert Einstein (half German, half Swiss) (1879 – 1953)
Albert Einstein developed the theory of relativity – the basis for our ideas about the universe. He suggested that gravity curves space – quite difficult to imagine!
He also introduced the idea of Time into theories on gravity, but it is very complicated and is generally not used except by very advanced scientists who work with an extreme level of accuracy. However his work did solve many problems that Newton ’s theory did not. His work on gravity led to scientists predicting black holes and wormholes. Later a scientist called Hawking developed these ideas, and is still working on black holes.
