Caring for Baby and You Launch of new parenting booklet

New parents and parents of younger children are invited to attend the launch of a new booklet called "Caring for Baby and You" at the De Valera Public Library, Ennis on Tuesday 11th March at 7.30pm. The booklet has been produced as part of a collaborative project between Clare County Library and the Public Health Nursing Service working with the Kilmaley New Parents Support Group. It contains a comprehensive list of recommended parenting books.

Research shows that reading to your child can help to promote secure attachment, develop confidence, aid cognitive and speech and language development, help socio-emotional development and lay foundations of good literacy skills. Books can also be a very useful resource for new parents in search of information. Child care and parenting books can help to equip you with the information to improve your life and your childs life. However, thousands of parenting books are published each year and it can be difficult to choose suitable material from the vast array out there. This booklet makes that task easier - each title listed has been recommended by a Public Health Nurse and all of the books selected are stocked by Clare County Library..

HSE parenting expert, Gráinne Ryan, will attend the launch to give a short talk to parents on some of the main issues that face parents of young children.
