Book Club

Carlow Central Library's new book club takes place on the FIRST THURSDAY of every month at 6pm in the GB Shaw Room. If you are interested in joining please email library@carlowcoco.ie phone 0599129701 or just turn up on the day. For April's meeting the group will be chatting about a short story by Raymond Carver called "Cathedral". The book chosen for the May meeting is "The Invention of Wings" by Sue Monk Kidd.

Before the Film came the Book - Movies in the Library

Carlow Library's new book/ movie club takes place in the GB Shaw Room, Carlow Central Library on the third Thursday of every month. The book chosen for the March screening of the same name is "The End of the Affair" by Graham Greene. All are welcome.

The Read Together Project

This project is an initiative developed between Carlow Library Service and Carlow Educate Together National School. The aim of this project is to encourage and support children to appreciate and read books.

Short Story Competition for Primary Schools in County Carlow

Carlow African Film Festival in partnership with Carlow County Libraries are delighted to announce a short story competition for primary schools. Letters have been sent to all 40 primary schools in Carlow inviting all children to participate. Entries to the competition are at two categories, Individual Student Category and School Category. Shortlisted entries at both Categories will be read out by entrants at an Award Presentation which will take place at VISUAL & G.B Shaw Theatre, Carlow on Friday, 2nd May 2014 before results are announced. Deadline for entry is Friday, 18th April 2014. All entries should be posted to: John Shortall, Carlow Central Library, Tullow Street, Carlow.

Weekly Irish Circle - Is Leor Beirt

Are you interested in improving your Irish, having a chat and a bit of fun with others? If so, then come along to our weekly Irish Circle in the Shaw Room of Carlow Central Library every Wednesday from 10:30-11:30am. All are welcome. We are also starting a weekly Irish Group in Muinebheag Library. The first meeting is scheduled to take place on March 4th at 11:30am. Click here for more details.
