World Book Day in Kilkenny
Kilkenny County Library
City Library, Kilkenny celebrated World Book Day on 6th March 2014
An enthusiastic group of 3-6 year olds participated in The Gruffalo workshop, where they created scary hairy Gruffalo masks, Mouse Masks and interactive storyboards with moving characters.
9-12 year olds created stationery based on the popular Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. Intense work and creativity went into their wallets, folders, and diaries, with the workshop becoming a mini book club full of lively chat and discussion about the books.
Over 150 students from the City and surrounding areas participated in class visits to celebrate world book day this year. Classes were treated to book quizzes, tours and some freebie pencils and bookmarks.
We also held a free raffle for book hampers for anyone visiting on the day
