Cubism in the Classroom
Set up a still life or choose a single object. Make line drawings of the object(s) from a number of different angles on tracing paper:
- Looking straight at the object(s)
- Looking at the object(s) from the left
- Looking at the object(s) from the back
- Looking at the object(s) from the right
- Looking at the object(s) from above
Combine the tracing paper drawings in order to create an interesting composition. Overlap them and trace parts of the drawings onto a single sheet of paper (A3/A2). Add paint in flat bold colours or paint in a similar style to Picasso and Braque during their analytical phase, greys and beiges with strong black lines.
