Teach Mhici Mac Gabhann
The home place of Mickey McGowan is a traditional thatched cottage on the main road between Gortahork and Bloody Foreland near the ferry departure for Tory Island. Mickey McGowan or Mhici Mac Gabhann was the author of 'Rotha Mor and tSaoil' (The Hard Road to Klondike.) There is a guided tour and 15 minute audio-visual presentation about his life and times. McGowan survived the Irish Potato Famine, worked on farms in Donegal and Scotland and emigrated to the Yukon territory of Alaska.
