Patrick Pearse's Cottage
The Patrick Pearse cottage, is a restored thatched dwelling set in spectacular rural Connemara. The executed Irish nationalist and patriot Patrick Pearse (1879-1916) who was leader of the 1916 Easter Rising lived in the cottage using it as his summer residence and as a school. Pearse also ran a boys secondary school called St. Enda's in Dublin. The cottage was destroyed during the War of Independence but today is restored and houses an exhibition about Pearse and the Irish revolutionary period.
