Ross Castle

Ross Castle is typical of the strongholds of the Gaelic Irish and was built by the O'Donoghue Ross clan during the Middle Ages. There is a fortified bawn, curtain defensive walls and circular towers. A barrack building was added in the 18th century. The castle features examples of furniture from the 16th and 17th centuries. The castle is popular with visitors during the summer months.
