Duiske Abbey
Duiske Abbey was founded in 1204 by William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke and became one of the most important monasteries in Ireland. It was dissolved in 1536 by Henry VIII and its lands were rewarded to James Butler of Duiske. The abbey church remained a place of worship and was used by the Church of Ireland until 1812 when it was returned to the Catholic Church. Today it is now a parish church and also used for music performances
