Lough Gur Heritage Centre
The Lough Gur Heritage Centre hosts a series of exhibits narrating the manufacture and use of flint and bronze tools in prehistoric and ancient times and their discovery and study by archaeologists. Replicas of stone age pottery open a window into the past and the life styles of the ancient inhabitants of Lough Gur. There is also a replica of the bronze age Lough Gur shield and the Countess of Bath Chalice and Paten. Other exhibits cover the geology of the area, local flora and fauna, celtic culture and folklore. Ancestors of U.S. President John F. Kennedy also came from the area.
