Farney Castle
Farney Castle is the home of the Irish international designer Cyril Cullen and is the only occupied round tower of its type in the island of Ireland. The castle was a stronghold of the Butlers of Ormonde who controlled the area following the Norman invasion of the 12th century. The current stone structure was constructed in the late 15th century. After the Cromwellian and Williamite wars of the 17th century, the residence and lands passed to the Armstrong family. The current owner Cyril Cullen sells knitwear and porcelain throughout the world and also to visitors to his castle.
