The Swiss Cottage was constructed in the early 1800s by Richard Butler, 1st Earl Of Glengall and designed by Regency architect John Nash. The cottage contains a spiral staircase and beautifully appointed rooms featuring Dufour manufactured wallpaper. The site of the building was specially chosen for its elevated location and is visited by ascending a flight of stone steps.
