Tyrrellspass Castle
Tyrellspass Castle was the seat of the Tyrrell dynasty who arrived in Ireland following the 12th century Norman invasion. It is typical of many tower houses built throughout the country. During the Cromwellian invasion of Ireland, members of the Tyrrell family fought on the side of the Catholic Confederacy and were executed. The ruined castle was restored in the 1970s and is currently home to the Tyrrellpass Castle restaurant which hosts medieval style banquets.
