The physical library service consists of two locations, The Main Campus Library (called Goldsmith Library), and a comprehensively stocked Nursing and Health Science Library located on the AIT East Campus.

Athlone Institute of Technology provides a range of courses to students mostly from the midlands area in Ireland and also further afield in Ireland and internationally.

The library is also involved in a range of Information literacy programmes for students and staff including Database searching skills, Research and information skills sessions,  Learning to Learn, Endnote and research skills sessions, law referencing and participation in the Institute Peer Assisted Student Service (PASS) The physical library service consists of two locations, The Main Campus Library (called Goldsmith Library), and a comprehensively stocked Nursing and Health Science Library located on the AIT East Campus.
