Clare Heritage and Genealogical Centre
This award winning museum is housed in what was once St. Catherine's Church, which was built in 1718. The museum takes the visitor through the absorbing story of the circumstances that molded the character of the people of Clare over one hundred years ago. It is also an appropriate setting for some fine sculptural exhibits, such as the original Tau Cross. Sir Frederick Burton, a former Director of the British National Gallery, was a native of Corofin, and some colour reproductions of his more famous works are on display.
