Craggaunowen - the Living Past Experience
Craggaunowen - the Living Past Experience is an award winning park recreating pre-historic and early Christian Ireland.
The daily life of people is replicated with archaeologically accurate houses and artefacts based on the Ireland of 1,000 years ago. Among the features of the park is a Crannog - a type of fortress amid a lake - a ring fort and a medieval castle of the type built by the Normans.
There is also the 'Brendan Boat' a leather skinned vessel which was used by explorer Tim Severin to replicate the voyage of St. Brendan 'The Navigator' to America. Finally there is homemade produce for sale in a farmhouse cafe.
