Cork Geological Museum
The Cork Geological Museum contains about 20,000 items of mineral, rock and fossil samples. The collections also include a range of photographic slides, geological maps, books and offprints.
It was established in 1849, after the joint decision was made made by the Board of all three Queens' Colleges in 1846 to establish museums at all three campuses in Belfast, Cork and Galway. The original 19th century oak cases remain intact and in use and the collection itself is arranged systemically.
