The Crawford Art Gallery

The Crawford Art Gallery is considered the most important art museum in Cork. It seeks to educate a broad range of patrons on how the visual arts contribute to present day culture. There are over 2000 works on permanent display.

The works on permanent display range from 18th century paintings from Ireland and the Continent to modern video art installations. In 1818 a number of casts of Roman and Greek classic sculptures were brought to Cork and these form the centre piece of the museum. 19th and 20th century Irish art is also strongly represented.
