The Donegal County Museum is based in a fine old stone building, which was once part of the Letterkenny Workhouse, opened in 1845. The Museum houses a substantial collection of artefacts relating to the history and heritage of County Donegal.

The first floor exhibition tells the story of Donegal from the Stone Age to the Twentieth Century. A series of temporary exhibitions are held in the gallery throughout the year. These exhibitions cover a wide range of topics with something to suit all ages and interests. The Museum also organises an events and education programme throughout the year.
The Museum is a designated Museum under the Cultural Institutions Act and has achieved Full Accreditation.
