Irish Steam Preservation Society Steam Museum

The society houses many steam, fire and farm engines in the museum. These include a Land Rover Fire Engine which was stationed at Stradbally fire station in approximately 1950. A Guinness loco Engine is also displayed, which was used around the Guinness Brewery streets over 50 years ago and there is even a home-made steam tractor. It is hoped that further items will be offered on loan from Society members and other benefactors.

The National Steam Rally is held every year in the same town as the home of the steam museum in Stradbally, County Laois. It is held on the first Sunday and Monday of August. Steam enthusiasts and families from all over Ireland, UK and further afield attend this premier event in the calendar of steam and vintage shows in Ireland .

Over 30 steam engines give working demonstrations at the rally and numerous family events are held including a carnival, lots of trade stands, sheep dog demonstrations and a steam engine which gives train rides through the woodlands of the Cosby estate. Steam threshing, stone crushing and sawing timber are also part of the fun.
