Comb Jellies
Comb jellies resemble small oval jellyfish equipped with rows of tiny moving plates called ‘combs’ which propel them through the water. The most common species in Irish waters is the Sea Gooseberry (Pleurobranchia pileus) which uses two long retractable tentacles to snare juvenile fish larvae and other prey.
