Fenagh
Fenagh Fichnacha, "a woody place"
The parish of Fenagh lies about three miles southwest of the town of Ballinamore. It is an exceptionally low-lying district, which practically half its entire area occupied by lakes, which are to be found at every turn.
Fenagh is rather fortunate in having a disproportionately large number of references to it in ancient Irish records. The majority of these references relate to the local Abbey and its reputed founder and patron, St Caillin.
