Mohill
Mohill - Maothail, "A wet, spongy place"
Mohill town is in the south-east end of the rectangle that forms the parish, which measures about 6¼ miles from east to west by about 7 from north to south. South and east the parish boundaries pass within a mile of the town. The town of Mohill, itself, is situated on the slopes of the hills where this undulating district meets the plains of the southern tip of Co Leitrim. From the hill top in the townland of Corlea where the road to Eslinbridge chapel branches off the Mohill-Carrick on Shannon road a remarkable view of the surrounding country and the mountains to the north and west is afforded.
