Carlow County LibraryMade and Established for the Regulation of Small Boats Plying on the Barrow Navigation, under powers granted by Charter 30th George III
- No Small Boat shall pass through any Lock without paying the authorised Lockage charge.
- Each Small Boat propelled by Oars, Sculls or Paddles, shall, on payment of Two Pence to the Company's Lock-keeper, receive a permit entitling her to pass and return once through the Lock at which said permit was issued.
- Small Boats propelled by Steam or towed from the towing-path, shall be liable in each case to a Lockage charge of Fourpence.
- Permits shall only be available for day of issue, and shall not be transferable.
- No Small Boat shall pass through any Lock between the hours of 10 o'clock in the afternoon and 7 o'clock in the forenoon on week-days, and on Sundays the Lock shall only be open to the passage of such craft between the hours of 2 o'clock and 10 o'clock in the afternoon.
Any persons failing to comply with these Bye-Laws shall be liable to a fine not exceeding Forty Shillings.
Given under the Common Seal of the Barrow Navigation Company this 10th day of April, 1891.
