The Carlow Sentinel was first published by Henry Malcomson in Tullow Street, it later moved to Dublin Street and afterwards to Court Place where it was owned by T.H. Carroll. Its last proprietor was George Langran. It was unionist and conservative in bias. The Carlow Standard lasted for a short period and was edited by John Ryan author of "The History and Antiquities of the County of Carlow". The Leinster Independent was printed in Dublin Street. The Leinster Reformer was in existence from 12th October 1839 until 17th July 1841 and was published in Tullow Street.
