© Waterford City Council. In July 2005 one of the world's most prestigious maritime events The Tall Ships Race is coming to Waterford. This world renowned race attracts 70 or more vessels including the glamorous Class 'A' Square-Riggers.
Waterford City, with its broad harbour and mile long Quay is an ideal venue for the event. Uniquely Waterford Quay is able to facilitate the entire fleet and this will show Waterford at its very best. It will be the largest and most colourful spectacular the city has ever seen and a great boast for tourism and sailing in the South East.
The people of Waterford will have a chance to mingle with the anticipated 450, 000 visitors to the city as well as the almost 4,000 crew members from over 20 countries. The focus of The Tall Ships event is on youth activity with thousands of young people, aged between 15 and 24 sailing together regardless of nationality.
