While the stories of cures and ghosts and legends may be similiar across Ireland there are many which are indeed peculiar to County Kildare.

Customs concerning Lent and Easter
Long ago people were extremely religious, and during the seven weeks of Lent, they were very strict with the fast. If anyone got married during Lent, they used to put boiling water in bottles and blow those people with them. When Good Friday came, Good Friday eggs would be collected. Then on Holy Saturday they used to get the salt blessed. When Easter Sunday morning , the eggs were eaten and there was supposed to be a cure in them then. On Ascension Thursday, holy water was thrown into the four corners of the fields, or else bad luck would befall them. A man was supposed to shake the water.
