" Waterford in Wartime" is the theme for this pilot project and the "Waterford News 1914- 1918" has been selected as the test newspaper for this study.
About the Project
Waterford City undertook a pilot project to investigate the best practice for the digitisation of newspapers as part of Phase One of the Ask About Ireland and the Cultural Heritage Project, which supported five such projects in the digitisation of particular types of media (newspapers, 3D material, maps, etc.).
The Newspaper Digitisation Pilot Project invoved researching and learning how to create a full-text searchable online newspaper archive, making a small selection of Waterford City Library' s newspaper collection, full-text searchable via the CHP portal and producing guidelines and reports on the digitisation process and related issues.Download the PDF version of the Final Report for a step-by-step documentary on the project's progress.
