MILITARY CONCERT IN DUNGARVAN.
Last Friday night, the band of the Leinster Regiment, which is here in Dungarvan for the past few days, gave a band concert in the Town Hall. The large hall was packed on the occasion, and a splendid selection of popular music was rendered, which was highly appreciated by the audience. Lieutenant Fletcher in command superintended the arrangements, which were of the most satisfactory character. The Chairman of the Urban Council. Mr. P. Sexton, J.P., presided, and addressed some words to the people. The musical items were received with loud applause. Lieut. Fletcher, at the close of the programme, addressed the assemblage and said there was no compulsion to join, but they would be glad of as many recruits as they could get. The forward movement had not yet taken place at the front, but men would be required, and it was the interest of Irishmen to join, so as to save their country from the fate that overtook Belgium at the hands of the Germans. He thanked the audience for their appreciation of the music, and said that wherever they went in the Co. Waterford, they were received with the greatest warmth, so much so that the feelings of kindness shown them would never be forgotten. The band then played "God Save the King", and the proceedings ended.
