The first anniversary of Roger Casement's execution was marked by a great public gathering at Casement's Fort near Ardfert Co. Kerry on August 5 1917. The old fort was renamed Casement's Fort in honour of Sir Roger Casement who was arrested there on Good Friday 1916. Ashe is pictured in the middle of the photograph.

This memorial card was sent by Irish leader Michael Collins to Ashe's family shortly after his death.Collins gave the short but powerful oration at Ashe's graveside. "Nothing additional remains to be said.That volley which we have just heard is the only speech which is proper to make above the grave of a dead Fenian"

12 January, 1885 - Thomas Ashe was born.
15 July, 1907 - Appointed Assistant Teacher in Minard.
24 April, 1916 - Easter Rising
23 May, 1916 - Imprisoned in Dartmore.
19 June, 1917 - Released from Dartmore Prison.
23 June. 1917 - Started to Campaign for De Valera.
25 July, 1917 - Warrant issued for his arrest.
5 August, 1917 - Spoke in Ardfert for Roger Casement's Commemoration
20 September, 1917 - Began his Hunger Strike.
25 September, 1917 - Died on Hunger Strike.
30 September, 1917 - Funeral took place.
