Loreto Abbey, Rathfarnham.
Loreto Abbey, Rathfarnham.
Loreto Abbey is a splendid example of Georgian architecture. It dates from 1725 when it was known as Rathfarnham House. Over the years it fell into disrepair. The house was purchased by Dr.Murray, Archbishop of Dublin, and converted into a school for Catholic girls in 1823. The building became known as Loreto and a church was added in 1838. The Abbey closed to students in 1999.
Image acquired from The Collectors' Shop, Blackrock.
