Carlow Railway Station was built in 1845 and was designed by Sir John MacNeill. It is located in Carlow Town, on the Dublin – Waterford line. The Station is an example of Jacobean Revival architecture. It comprises a two storey central block and two single storey wings. There are two platforms, a signal box and footbridge and the station also has offices and waiting areas. It is built of yellow brick with granite features particularly in the window dressings and drip moulds.

Specifications for additions to Carlow Gaol 1827 (p. 34)The diocletian window over the entrance gate of the Lodge to be constructed in upright and horizontal wrought iron gratings as just now specified for entrance gates and similarly spaced – with cast iron turn stiles forming mullions (-) these turnstiles to be three inches diameter strongly pivoted through he tops and bottom horizontal rails of grating with washers etc. and firmly inserted in metal sockets inserted and leaded in the stone work under and over the name – The centre components of the window must open in two parts meeting in the centre or rebated copping stiles of 1 ½ inch square iron – with two strong iron bolts hasps and approved pendant locks at top and bottom – these centre compartments of the window are to be opened outwards on the turnstiles before described - so as to occasionally form the sides of an execution balcony.

The Black Castle, Leighlinbridge
The Black Castle, on the River Barrow at Leighlinbridge, County Carlow. This castle was founded by Hugh de Lacy in 1181 as an early Norman stronghold. A later castle which is now in ruins was built by Sir Edward Bellingham in the 16th Century.

St Clare's Church, Graiguecullen
Rear view of St Clare's Catholic Church, Graiguecullen. It was designed originally as a Church of Ireland Church. It was commissioned by the Bruen Family of Oak Park and built on the Athy Road in 1852. However, the Church of Ireland sold it to the Parish Priest of Graiguecullen in 1929. It was re-erected on the otherside of the River Barrow, where it serves as the Catholic parish Church, Graiguecullen today.

Front approach and main entrance to St. Clare's parish church, Graiguecullen. This church was first erected on the Athy road by the Bruen family of Oakpark, as a Church of Ireland. It was transferred stone by stone to its present site, following its purchase by the parish priest of Graiguecullen in 1929.
