Ye Kildoney Lads- - First Boat to Cast a Net on the Erne 1933
"Ye Kildoney Lads" - The first boat to cast nets on the Erne Estuary, August 1933. They had won a legal battle against the Erne Fishery Company for the right to fish for salmon under licence. From L to R: Willie Morrow, Joe Morrow, Nick Scanlon, “Red Willie” Goan, Bob Scanlon, Hugh Gavigan. Kildoney is a point on the northwest shore of the estuary; all salmon returning to the Erne to spawn must swim around this point.
