Church on Abbeyleix Estate
The old church, which is surrounded by many old and beautiful Irish Yews, is thought to stand on the site of the original Abbey chapel.

Castlecuffe
This old castle, two miles west of Clonaslee, was, according to Lewis' Topographical Dictionary, built by the first Sir Charles Coote in Elizabeth's time on the lands of the Dunnes which had been granted to him.

Brittas Castle
In order to fund the building of Brittas Castle, it is believed that Colonel Dunne obtained loans from Germany. The castle was destroyed in a fire on Thursday, June 25th 1942.

Bianconi Coach Timetable
Bianconi's coach arrived in Durrow at 9.00 o'clock where Mr Richard Forde, Bianconi's agent, had fresh horses ready. As speed was of the essence, a frequent change of horses was necessary, generally every eight to ten miles.

Castlebrack
"Bréac" is a Gaelic word meaning multi-coloured or speckled. Hence, Castlebrack means a stone fortification with a speckled appearance.

Kilmanman Church and Graveyard
Kilmanman - meaning Manman's Church - is situated two and a half kilometres north-west of Clonaslee. It was one of two monasteries set up by St. Manman in the Clonaslee area in the 7th century.

Bianconi's Coach Service
From the early-18th century Durrow was serviced by His Majesty's Mail Coaches. These coaches ran from Dublin to Cork, a journey which, it is recorded, took 20 hours. It's halting site in Durrow from 1832 was The Red Lion.

Dunne Family Crest
The principal castle of the Dunnes was built in Tinnahinch in the old parish of Rearymore (east of Clonaslee) by Tadhg MacLaighnigh Ui Duinn who ruled the territory in 1475. It was the residence of the chief of the Dunnes.

Castledurrow was planned by Sir William Flower. Historians differ on the date on which Castledurrow was begun, with suggestions ranging between 1712 and 1715.

Interior View of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Durrow
In 1836 building commenced on the Church of the Holy Trinity under the direction of the then Parish Priest - Father Paul Dowling. The Building cost £2,500 and voluntary labour was provided by the men of the parish.

Doorway of a Late-Nineteenth Century Durrow Townhouse
In the latter part of the nineteenth century the restraints of classicism were being shaken off and architects began to revive other architectural styles from past eras. This doorway is a reflection of that change.

Ivy Chapel Cemetery
