Jack Devereux states 'This carol book was found in a house in Mill Road, in the townland of Chapel, in a house formerly owned by a schoolteacher named Joseph Colfer who taught in Kilmore around 1860. The index page was later lost but it bore the date 1803, and was written by a Michael Murphy of Greyrobin, Kilmore, who must have been a local scribe as his name appears on several of the old carol books...'
