The ruins of the old Franciscan Abbey at Balleighan, near Newtowncunningham, Co Donegal. Tradition has it that the abbey, on the shores of Lough Swilly, was founded by Hugh Dubh O'Donnell early in the sixteenth century. The O'Donnells were closely associated with the Franciscans, and were instrumental in introducing the order into the county.

The monument erected to Richard Hansard and his wife, Anne, who died within two days of each other in October 1619. It shows two kneeling figures in Jacobean costume. Sir Richard is dressed in armour, and his wife in long dress and veil. The original colours of the monument, previously painted over with several coats of black paint, were revealed during renovation in 1864.
