Athlone Castle Museum
Built by John de Gray, Bishop of Norwich in Norman times, Athlone Castle stands in the town centre. Today the castle comprises a museum that features exhibitions and audio visual presentations on everything relating to the town from the siege of Athlone to the world famous Irish tenor Count John McCormack as well as military history and local folklore. Also featured are the River Shannon and local wildlife.
