The Natterjack Toad is the only species of toad found in Ireland.
They love to eat on all kinds of insects. Their favourites are moths, spiders, woodlice, snails and worms. They can live for up to fifteen years!
Natterjack Toads like habitats with sandy soil. There are very few Natterjack Toads in Ireland. They only live in the sandy dunes of parts of County Kerry! You would be very lucky to see one, because they only come out at night.
How to know a Natterjack Toad
These toads have a flat body and short legs. Their eyes are green/ gold in colour. They have a yellow stripe that runs all the way down their backs. The rest of the toad's body is a brown/ green colour. They even have red and green warts all over their backs!

Natterjack Toads are are very noisy. The male can be heard from many kilometers away!
