Bathing, or swimming as we more commonly refer to it today, has always had a place in the history of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown.
Due to the geology and the proximity to the coast, and indeed the architecture of the area, many baths and bathing areas at Blackrock, Dun Laoghaire, Salthill and Seapoint were developed. Some beaches still remain popular natural bathing areas. These include Seapoint, Killiney and Sandycove.
