Edgeworthstown is situated in eastern Longford. The town is named after the the Edgeworth family who first settled there in 1583.
The writer Maria Edgeworth was the most famous member of the Edgeworth family. Her novel 'Castle Rackrent (1800)' was the high point in her career. read more about her here.
