Spot the Difference

You can tell a lot about the people in the photographs by what they are wearing.

Country men often wore broad-rimmed hats and city dwellers wore either a cloth cap or a bowler. Country women often wore shawls or hooded cloaks.

The photograph to the left shows the market at Bakerhouse Lane in around 1900. Take a look at it and see if you can identify which woman is the customer.

Additionally, take a look at the posters stuck to the walls on the background. Can you see what they are advertising?
