The 1916 Rising was not supported by the majority of Dublin people at the time. Many hated the destruction which had been caused and the lives that were lost.
John Redmond, who had worked all his life for home rule though parliamentary means said that the Rising was 'the insanity of a small section of people'.
The artist, Sarah Purser, who had painted a younger Constance, said 'We have been put back a hundred years'.
Count Horace Plunkett (1854 - 1932)
Count Horace Plunkett was a close family friend to the Gore-Booth's.
