Clonmacnoise

Founded by St. Ciarán in the mid 500s on the River Shannon, Clonmacnoise includes the ruins of a cathedral, seven churches dating from the 10th-13th century, two round towers, three high crosses and the most significant collection of early Christian grave slabs in Western Europe. A tour of the site includes an audio-visual presentation about the history of Clonmacnoise and the flora and fauna of the region.
