Mount Wolseley

Mount Wolseley was built by Sir Thomas Wolseley in 1864. It was built on a farm of 180 acres. Sir Clement James Wolseley was probably the last member of this family to occupy the family seat. His brother, Sir John Richard Wolseley had been the previous owner. Sir John's four daughters sold the property to the Patrician Order in 1925. The Brothers changed the name of the property to Mount St. Joseph. The house is a two storey Victorian house in a slightly Italianate style. It has camber headed windows and an ornate balustraded porch. The roof has a bracket cornice. There is a pyramidal style roof on the wing. To-day the property is again known as Mount Wolseley and is a forty bedroom hotel and golf course complex.
