Reproduced by kind permission of DuchasThe Ballyroan property stands in the townland of Ballyroan and included a gate lodge (Ballyroan Lodge, still standing) and cottage. Lewis's Topographical Dictionary lists the occupier as one Joshua Watson, as does Griffith's Valuation in the 1850s. The house also appears on the 1843 Ordnance Survey.
This detached three storey country house has farm buildings to the rear. It was built in the early nineteenth century and survives in poor condition today, according to the NIAH assessment.

Reproduced by kind permission of DuchasBallyroan Lodge, off the Ballyboden Road was built between 1840 and 1870 as the gate lodge to the Ballyroan Estate. It appears on the Ordnance Survey of 1843 and is listed in Griffith's Valuation as being occupied by Joshua Watson. The house is derelict today.
